Feedforward: conceptualisations and practices
The term ‘feedforward’ is increasingly used by academics on the ground as well as in debates, publications and policies around assessment and feedback. Participants of this masterclass will share and reflect upon their understanding of the term and their own feedforward practices. The discussion will be informed by a research project which has shown that feedforward as a concept has the potential to focus attention on dialogic, curriculum and future oriented practices.
Biographies
Kay Sambell is Professor of HE Pedagogy in the Department for Learning and Teaching Enhancement at Edinburgh Napier University and co-author (with Liz McDowell and Catherine Montgomery) of Assessment for Learning in Higher Education. Ian Sadler has a learning and teaching leadership role in the School of Sport, Leisure and Nutrition at Liverpool John Moore’s University. Nicola Reimann is an academic developer in the Centre for Academic Practice in the School of Education at Durham University.
They have all taken lead roles in a wide range of assessment practice development initiatives and their research interests relate to investigations of staff and students’ perspectives of assessment and learning:
